Pretty in Pink...

OK, I admit it - I'm apparently going through a "pink" phase these days...rose pink, baby pink, coral pink...if it's pink, I will turn it into a card! And it seems that even though I start with blue, or green, or lavender, something pink seems to make its way onto the card. So please bear with me, because it will change. Next week, I will have a new color obsession.  :)

To start, a soft and shabby "note" card...

Patterned papers: Pink Paislee Butterfly Collection      Embossing folder: Cuttlebug Flourished Frame
Spellbinders Labels 8 die      Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 2 Stamp Collection & Dress Form Set stamps

Paper roses: Prima from  LayoutsFromTheHeart on Etsy

Next up, an all occasion card - no sentiment, just lots of feminine frilliness...

Patterned papers: BoBunny Gabrielle collection (pink & aqua butterfly), Echo Park Victoria Gardens (damask),
Basic Grey Max & Whiskers (teal solid)
Fabric flower and mulberry leaves: Prima      Cotton laces: local craft store

Valentine's Day is not too far away...

I had a pretty productive week in the Korner...then had to wait for the rain go away to photograph them!  I do have a homemade "light box" for photographing my cards and small projects, but even though I use an Ott light, I still prefer the natural daylight at the back of the house.  Since the weather here has finally turned to winter (i.e., *wet*) and I missed the few hours of sun peeking through on Saturday, I had to wait until earlier today to catch enough natural light for the newest batch of flowery goodies.

I guess I had Valentine's Day on the mind when I made these first two. :)

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Basic Grey Olivia collection (large floral), Basic Grey Sweet Things collection (small floral),
BoBunny dot (on large heart)
Fabric flower: Frogfeathers on Etsy      Felt rose: My Favorite Things Large Rolled Rose die
Fabric leaves: Prima      Felt doily: My Favorite Things Decorative Doily Duo die
LOVE ticket: Tim Holtz idea-ology      Pearl flourish: Prima      Cotton lace: LittleRedCottage on Etsy
Spellbinders Dies: Classic Triple Scallop and  Classic Petal Edgeabilities

I added some pink rosebuds and put a pink scalloped border around the vintage heart image on this next card, and another Valentine was born....

A shot of what the insides look like...

Supplies:
Patterned papers: Basic Grey Out of Print collection (green & black),
Echo Park For the Record collection (tan)
Vintage rose image: The Graphics Fairy      Mulberry leaves: Prima      Hug Snug seam binding
Scalloped cotton lace: Fields of Dreams on Etsy      Pearl:  Recollections
Sentiment stamp: Hero Arts      Rose buds: Viola Mahr on Etsy

Hope you're having a great start to your week...back soon with more photos!

Vintage Label Minis...

Using a couple more images from Karen at The Graphics Fairy and a little more clear coarse glitter, I bring you the "doily edged duo" for today...

A pretty little perfume label:

It's been waaaaaay too many years since I used my three years of French study...I get the "fruit" part, but is this label for "fruit ices", i.e., sherbets?  Anyway, here's the "fruit" label...LOL

Some detailed closeups:

Supplies:
Vintage Images: The Graphics Fairy      Edge Punch: Martha Stewart Eyelet Lace
Patterned Papers: Echo Park Victoria Gardens      Cotton lace: Prima
Hug Snug seam binding      Pearl clusters: Prima

Little Bitty Pretty Ones...

I really enjoy making these little 3-1/2" x 5" cards.  It's always a challenge to see if my ideas will work, because although logic says they should go together quickly because of the smaller size, it's actually the opposite for me. And that challenge makes them fun, but admittedly a little bit frustrating at times!

This time, I used some vintage rose images from The Graphics Fairy, and added just a little bit of clear coarse glitter for fun.

This is my favorite shade of "rose" pink...it has just a hint of lavender undertones that give it a softness that a simple diluted red doesn't have.

This red one almost looks Christmas-y, doesn't it?  There's no denying that red roses command attention in nature... they might as well on a card, too...so I dyed up some nice, bright red Hug Snug for an accent!

Some dimensional closeups:

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Echo Park Be Mine collection (pink), Prima Romantique collection (tan)
Vintage images: The Graphics Fairy      Edge punch:  EK Success Diamond Lace      Cotton lace: local craft store
Hug Snug seam binding     Pearl butterflies: Prima      Single pearls and clear crystal: Kaiser Craft

I have another set of minis to share tomorrow...back soon!

Soft and Shabby...

Sometimes, when making cards, I pull embellishments first, then pull papers and punches to show off the embellishments.  This makes the process pretty quick, since it's then just a matter of arranging the decorations on the card fronts, then cutting papers to fit beneath them.

Instead, last week, I reversed the process, and pulled sets of patterned papers first...then went on the hunt through the Korner to find embellishments to go with the papers. When I was done, I realized I'd pulled all soft-and-shabby papers - guess I'd set my style right there.  But there's where the card-making process can slow down...because sometimes I don't already have the embellishments on hand that I have "in my head."  That means I need to get busy and get creative with my crafting supplies and make what I want.  So out come the die cutting machines, the glitters, the boxes of beads, and chipboard, and inks, and paints, and glues...and hours later I might be ready to start the construction of the cards - but I sure have lots of messy fun in the meantime!

To start, here's a little pretty for no particular reason...just to say "Hello"...

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Echo Park Victoria Gardens collection      Chipboard Frame: Tattered Angels
Fabric Rolled Flower: Creative Imaginations      Doily: Wilton      Pearls: Recollections
Jute Fringe Trim: Frogfeathers on Etsy       Braided Cotton Lace: LittleRedCottage on Etsy
Hug Snug seam binding      Grey Crochet Trim: Maya Road      Jute twine: Darice

Finally, for today, a fun little number using a Crafty Secrets vintage image...another "non-traditional" Valentine, perhaps?  The chipboard frame was made using Spellbinders Labels 20 dies.

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: MyMindsEye  A Beautiful Life collection (floral and dotted),
Pink Paislee Nantucket collection (green)
Dies: Spellbinders Labels 20      Punches: EK Success (abstract flower) edge punch, Fiskars corner rounder
German Glass Glitter: GlitterandKitsch on Etsy      Vintage Image: Crafty Secrets
Hug Snug seam binding      Fabric Leaf & White Lace/Pearl piece: Prima
Mini Roses: Prima from LayoutsFromTheHeart on Etsy      Copper Heart: stash
Lace: May Arts (tea dyed after purchase)      Handcrafted Stick Pin

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend...is football tuned on all tv's in your home, too? I'll admit to being glued to the tv yesterday while the 49'ers were playing!   We're supposed to get a bit of welcome rain here this week after a *very* dry holiday season. (Just another reason to "hole up" in my little Korner for some crafting fun!)

Red, White, and Blue...Who Knew?

Here are the last of the cards made over the Christmas holiday break.  I was having so much fun creating in colors other than Christmas colors, and with the warmer weather we've had over the last few weeks, it's hard to remember that winter is still the current season!  I keep reaching for spring color combos lately.

This first card came together without much advance planning, and when it was done, I realized that I'd made a Valentine in red, white, and blue...who knew?  But it didn't start that way. I started with the pale blue Echo Park patterned papers, and then decided to add a red scalloped piece just as an accent.  But the red accents kept multiplying...and when I added the white and cream lace accents...well, let's just say I had to add that pretty light green Prima fabric leaf to break up the color pattern a bit! LOL

Supplies:
Patterned papers: Echo Park and Basic Grey      Edge Punch: EK Success Diamond Lace
Laces: craft store (lower edge)  and LittleRedCottage on Etsy (top edge)
Hearts: Papertrey Ink dies, Echo Park patterned papers      Fabric leaf: Prima     Sentiment Stamps: Hero Arts
Fabric flower: Frogfeathers on Etsy      Felt rose: MyFavoriteThings Mini Rolled Rose dies
Pearl: Recollections      Hand dyed Hug Snug seam binding      Handcrafted stick pins

And last but not least, two more all-occasion mini cards (3-1/2"W x 5"H) using images from Made by Janet on Etsy...I love the teacups (I've been calling these "the teacup twins").  I added just a small touch of clear glitter to the teacup handles and bases to accent them, and surrounded the images with pearls and laces.

Supplies:
Teacup images: MadebyJanet on Etsy      Patterned Papers: Pink Paislee Nantucket collection (aqua),
Sassafras Secretly Smitten collection (yellow), Echo Park Be Mine collection (music)
Lace: LittleRedCottage on Etsy (scalloped), local craft store (white small flower)
Hand dyed Hug Snug seam binding      Pearls: Prima

Hope you have a wonderful weekend...I'll be back next week with photos of a few more new creations that came out of the Korner this week!

Happy...

Happy Monday!  Most of the young ones around here are just today returning to school...they had a longer than usual holiday break this year, and from what I'm hearing, they loved it!  I try to keep up with the school schedule here, since we live around the corner from a middle school, and just a few blocks either direction are both a grammar school and high school.  Patience is a much-needed virtue in the afternoons when each of the different schools let out for the day and traffic is crazy busy! :)

I have two more cards to share with you that I made over the holiday break. This first card started as a friendship card, but once I added the diecut heart, I realized that once again, I had another possible Valentine's Day card. I'm not totally sure where I got the "HAPPY" chipboard piece - it was in a baggie in a larger box of miscellaneous chipboard embellishments among my stash.  It might be K&Co (?)...but it started the whole design of the card, so it's an important little unknown piece!

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Authentique Uncommon collection      Sentiment Stamp: Hero Arts
Grey Pearls: Creative Imaginations      Felt Rose: My Favorite Things Mini Rolled Rose die set
Lace: Frogfeathers on Etsy      Chipboard Heart: from stash       Handcrafted stick pin
Spellbinders dies: Classic Petal Edgeabilities (bottom edges); Grand Label 23 (text paper)

Next up for today is a friendship or birthday card with a decidedly shabby/cottage feel.  I paired Spellbinders' Classic Ovals Large dies with My Favorite Things' Oval Dainty Doily die for the focal point medallion.

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Kaiser Craft Miss Nelly collection      Pearls & flourishes: Martha Stewart and Prima
Dies: Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large and MyFavoriteThings Oval Dainty Doily
Sentiment Stamp: Papertrey Ink      Paper Rose: Prima
Hand dyed Hug Snug seam binding      Scalloped Cotton Lace: Fields of Dreams on Etsy

Have a wonderful week...I'll be back soon with the last of the cards made over the holiday break...and after that, some new ones I'm starting today!
