Making the (die)Cut...

It's probably no secret...I love the newest line of dies with the very detailed edges, that make some of the prettiest shaped cards ever.  Even though they can be time-consuming in the construction, the finished product is worth it.

Today's card is filled with die cuts...and fancy edges...and pastel spring colors...

It was fun throwing the cameo frame into the mix of shaped dies...once that idea worked it was just a matter of adding more classic oval shapes beneath it to form a well of oval frames in the center of the card.

The floral cluster is a mix of different spring pastel colors, with one bright pink mini rose in the center like the bright pink peeking out in the print of the patterned paper behind it.  Pearls, white fuzzy stamens, a pastel aqua bow to match the frame, and a "blinged up" memo pin holding the sentiment tag complement the soft colors of all the papers and cardstocks...

Last but not least, a peek at the inside...

  2. Beautiful card!! I would love to know your secret for getting your spellbinder die to cut through two pieces of paper though. :) Your cards inspired me.

    1. Thank you, Jen! As far as getting the dies to cut through two thicknesses, it takes patience. I do have to put them through multiple times (often up to 4 or 5), and have to turn them different directions before running them through again, in order to get all the sides and details to cut through completely.

It doesn't seem to matter if I use the Grand Calibur, or the Big Shot, or the Cuttlebug to cut with...I still have to make multiple passes. (and be sure to use painter's tape or other temporary tape to hold the die/paper in place so they don't shift during multiple cut attempts). Hope this helps!

    2. That helps (hopefully! lol). I've only run them through 2 or 3 times, I'll exercise more patience. :) Thanks so much for answering me.
