If You Make Them...

I know that officially, it's fall. And if the weather gurus are right, we might see some rain next week. But it's still in the 90's here this week...that's summertime hot, and the air conditioner is still our best friend.

So recently I made up three fall-themed cards, hoping that maybe, as in Field of Dreams, "if you make them, it will come" (okay, maybe I took a little creative license there). C'mon Fall!

One More for Saturday...

One last post-on-the-run today to show you the third of the doily cards I made this past week.  I used the same Spellbinders Edgeabilities insert die that I used here, but after the first cut, I turned the insert die the other direction and made a second cut to make the edging wider.

A Couple Doily-Edge Cards today...

Just a quick post today to show off a couple of the cards I made this week - there's still one more, but I ran out of natural light yesterday, and will have to photograph the third one later today.   I'm anxious to start some fall and Christmas cards - with luck, I'll get started on some this weekend. It's a little hard to get "in the mood" for fall and winter when it's still nearly 100 degrees outside. LOL

Supplies:

Spellbinders Edgeabilities dies (Classic Triple Scallop)

3 in 1 (day)

Happy Monday!

I have three new cards to share with you today.  One was made a little over a week ago but I added the roses to it this weekend after making two more new cards on Saturday.  Love days like Saturday when the house is cleaned up, the errands are run, and nothing's on the calendar but a relaxing day in the Korner catching up on recorded tv shows and crafting!

This first card is based on sketch #231 from Card Positioning Systems...I just turned the sketch upside down. And, I got to play with some of my new Spellbinders Edgeabilities dies! The Coredinations cardstock was fun to distress to blend with the distressed look of the patterned papers.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Coredinations      Patterned Papers: My Minds Eye A Beautiful Life collection
Spellbinders Dies: Classic Triple Scallop (edge), Classic Ric Rac (insert), Fancy Tags 3 (sentiment)
Sentiment stamp: Technique Tuesday/Ali Edwards      Paper Roses: Prima      Pearls: Recollections
Lace: local craft store      Flourish: Pink Paislee Artisan Elements

And here are the two that I spent Saturday relaxing with:

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: My Minds Eye Stella & Rose/Mabel
Postal image stamps and small stamp die: Papertrey Ink "Postmarks"
Stamp edge punch: Fiskars      Hug Snug seam binding      Paper rose, leaves: Prima

Back from a little blog break

Hi again! Did anyone even notice how neglected this little "korner" of the web has been the last 10 days or so?  All is well, and my little unplanned blog break is over. I've been working on some crafty things in the meantime, though...and some I'll share in a short while.

I will say that if you like your Green Tangerines monthly kits, I think you'll really like the card kit add-on for October, too...just had to add that little tease. :)

I'm starting to round up fall/winter holiday-themed supplies these days...are you getting into that yet?  I'm such a "sucker" for new holiday decor items and crafty items, and I tend to be like a child in a candy store when I see the new products all laid out and looking pretty (i.e, I'm really susceptible to good marketing and display techniques!).  When I was purging and cleaning "the korner" a few weeks ago, I approached it with this question: "if you were packing to move, would you take this with you or give it away?"  It helped to make the decision a little easier.  I really need to apply that question when my eyes glaze over with the fun of holiday product displays- LOL

Here are pics of a couple cards for my stash. I'll be back next week with more fall-colored projects!

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: BasicGrey Hopscotch collection (multicolor), BoBunny Dots (pink)
Vintage Image: Crafty Secrets      Laces: local craft stores      Hug Snug seam binding
Pearls, Paper flowers, Paper leaves: Prima      Sentiment Stamp: Hero Arts

I used my Make the Cut software to cut this shaped card.  (I was playing around with backgrounds on this next one, too - not too sure if I like the dark color now that I see it here. )

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: BasicGrey Capella collection      Software: Make the Cut
Pearls: Prima      Laces & felt flower: local craft stores
Hug Snug Seam Binding      Sentiment Stamp: Inkadinkado

Thanks for stopping by!

Best Laid Plans...

I'd planned to have a crafty long weekend...and it didn't work out quite as planned. But I did get some purged supplies donated to one of the local schools via my neighbor/teacher, and did lots of around-the-house chores, so things did get accomplished.  It usually seems to work out this way - when I have the time, the creativity is stalled...when I have the mojo working, I'm in the midst of doing other things that need to be done. LOL

Here are a couple cards to start off the new week.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

This week has just flown by for me!  In fact, this whole summer seems to have flown by - hard to believe Labor Day Weekend is already here. After a relatively cool summer as summers go in this area, it's supposed to be pretty toasty here the next couple days, so maybe it's a good time to finish the cleanup of the Korner and keep cool. Here's a short and sweet post to end the week on.

I played around with shapes on this first card. The card base measures 4-1/4"W x 4-1/2"H, but the medallion sits 1" above the top fold of the card making the finished dimensions 4-1/4" x 5-1/2", so it fits in a standard A2 envelope.

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: BasicGrey Sweet Threads collection
Sentiment stamps: Hero Arts      Pearl& Crystal flourishes: Prima      Rose Diecut: Glitz Designs
Alencon Lace: Prima      Spellbinders Label 4 Die      Cotton Lace: Craft store
Hug Snug Seam Binding      Handmade paper leaves

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Melissa Frances 5th Avenue collection
Chipboard frame: Tattered Angels      German glass glitter: Etsy
Pearls, Roses, Lace Cutout: Prima      Flourish: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Accents die
Sentiment Chip: Studio G      Sentiment Stamps: Hero Arts (hello friend), Papertrey Ink (thinking of you)

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

Halfway There...

Well, more than halfway - the craft closet is purged and cleaned and reorganized. Yay! But you know what that leads to, right? If I've gone this far, I might as well go through ALL the cabinets and baskets and chests and file drawers here in the Korner. Those shouldn't take as long, though, since I've had to keep those under control or I wouldn't be able to close doors or tops. At least, I hope that's the case...I'm really tired of the cleaning part. LOL

But I did squeeze in some play time, and along with a card, I found another Creative Imaginations Bare Elements - this time a 12" high dress form.  I guess I had put this at the bottom of the closet because it was something to cover "just for play" and didn't have a function when I was done other than to sit there and look pretty. So I played with it, and made it just for me, and it's sitting atop a cabinet looking pretty, if I do say so myself!

Here's a little thank you card to start off...

Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Prima Romantique Collection (florals); My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus Sisters (polka dot)
Roses, Lace, Pearls: Prima      Sentiment Stamp: Papertrey Ink      Hug Snug seam binding
Sentiment Plaque Shaped Die: Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents

And here's the decorated dress form. This was so much fun - messy hands full of decoupage glue, paints, inks, crackle medium, hot glue gun in hand...and I used only papers and materials I had in my stash, so I had to go on a little "shopping spree" through the Korner, messy as it was throughout the closet clean up project!

I applied a base coat of off-white acrylic paint over the base and top of the form. Then torn bits of patterned papers were glued to the torso, and diluted pale pink acrylic paint was lightly painted over the papers.  A light sanding to distress and blend the coloring was the next step. After that, I applied glossy crackle medium over the entire form, and when it was dry, sponged on some Tea Dye Distress Ink to accent the crackling, and wiped off the excess with a clean applicator sponge.  A little bit of tulle, a little bit of lace, some pearls, some roses, a necklace of rhinestones, and a butterfly on her shoulder - all gussied up.

But then the base looked a little lightweight, so I went looking for some picket fence material I thought I had - no luck finding it. I do, however, have a picket fence die from Papertrey Ink, so I cut some pieces with lightweight white chipboard, and glued them to the base. But it still looked too "plain" ... so out came the Tim Holtz Picket Fence Crackle Paint...and now it looks better.  A little Spanish moss, and a few little white flowers sprinkled in and wound around the base, and she's "ready for her closeup."

Supplies:
Dress Form: Creative Imaginations Bare Elements
Patterned Papers: Bo Bunny Gabrielle Collection
Roses & Pearls: Prima      Butterfly Punch & Coarse Glitter: Martha Stewart
Picket Fence Die: Papertrey Ink      Crackle Paint: Tim Holtz      Clear Crackle Medium: DecoArt
White Flowers, Moss, Rhinestones, Lace, Tulle: Local craft stores      Hug Snug Seam Binding

I'll be back tomorrow with a couple cards I thought I had posted here late last month, but didn't...oops.

Have a great day!
